Abstract
There are important Twelfth-century mural paintings surviving in the North Transept of Chichester Cathedral. Their extremely fragmentary condition has prevented serious study, although much can be gleaned from close observation of their fine original technique, and their physical history. This article attempts to piece together the evidence, with the aim of increasing the appreciation and understanding of these overlooked 'Romanesque' masterpieces.
